Weekend Trip to New Orleans

April 20, 2011 By: Serena

This past weekend I took a short trip to New Orleans, and what a yummilicious time I had!  I stuffed myself silly – here are some of the highlights:

Beignets at Cafe Du Monde

A cooking class/demonstration at Crescent City Cooks:

Do you need some Magic Swamp Dust in your life?
No? How about a crawfish mobile?

Crawfish Gumbo!

Etouffee – this was my fave; you could taste the butter in every bite!

A trip to NOLA wouldn’t be complete without pralines.

Bread Pudding

Fried Oyster Sandwich at Cafe Maspero

Charbroiled Oysters at Drago’s (these were AWESOME!)

The Aftermath.

We also tried the Crabmeat Au Gratin Dip (cheezy goodness)

and the Shrimp ‘N Grits with Tasso

I definitely lucked out in the food department in NOLA!  With the penchant for anything buttered, sugared, fried or carby, I knew I’d be in for a treat.  Yum :) .  Aaaand now I’m craving a praline – anybody got some lying around? ;)

Have you ever been to New Orleans? What was your favorite food there?

Yum! New Orleans is my favorite dining destination in the world. I'm heading there in two weeks and this gets me so excited. My fave eats in the Big Easy are the BBQ shrimp from Mr. B's and anything at Cochon.

    Yum!!!
Y'all should have gone to Jachimo's on Oak. They have the best food. Seriously. They have this alligator cheese cake that is to die for. Even my non-seafood eating husband thinks so. Maybe alligator is more like chicken then seafood though…
