Weekend Trip to New Orleans
This past weekend I took a short trip to New Orleans, and what a yummilicious time I had! I stuffed myself silly – here are some of the highlights:
Beignets at Cafe Du Monde
A cooking class/demonstration at Crescent City Cooks:
Crawfish Gumbo!
Etouffee – this was my fave; you could taste the butter in every bite!
A trip to NOLA wouldn’t be complete without pralines.
Bread Pudding
Fried Oyster Sandwich at Cafe Maspero
Charbroiled Oysters at Drago’s (these were AWESOME!)
The Aftermath.
We also tried the Crabmeat Au Gratin Dip (cheezy goodness)
and the Shrimp ‘N Grits with Tasso
I definitely lucked out in the food department in NOLA! With the penchant for anything buttered, sugared, fried or carby, I knew I’d be in for a treat. Yum
. Aaaand now I’m craving a praline – anybody got some lying around?
Have you ever been to New Orleans? What was your favorite food there?

OMG the charbroiled oysters. YES! And beignets? Yum! Pretty much all of it is delicious. Maybe you could make some pralines?
1YIKES. I am literally drooling right now. Aaaaaaand I need to take another trip to New Orleans. I forgot how amazing the food is!!
2Yum! New Orleans is my favorite dining destination in the world. I'm heading there in two weeks and this gets me so excited. My fave eats in the Big Easy are the BBQ shrimp from Mr. B's and anything at Cochon.
3Goodness! The crawfish étouffée is my favorite, too… perfect amount of spice. Mmm! {That cooking instructor looks a bit like Kevin Spacey!}
4Oh man! Beignets?? Must you blog about everything that is drool worthy? Oh wait. It's a food blog. Dur!
5I wish I could have been there! Everything looks great!!
6Oh man… I'm craving butter right now. And more of those oysters!!!
7YUM beignets! I don't know how you managed to take a picture and holding back for even a moment without devouring those bad boys!
8Yum!!!
9Y'all should have gone to Jachimo's on Oak. They have the best food. Seriously. They have this alligator cheese cake that is to die for. Even my non-seafood eating husband thinks so. Maybe alligator is more like chicken then seafood though…
MMMMMMMMMM, looking at these pics it feels like I was right there with you! Oh wait, I was!
10I'm so envious of your trip!! It looks like you had your fill of tasty southern cuisine! YUM
11oh. my. gawd. You're killing me…
12I'm gonna make some prawww-lines for Easter. Not pray-lines, that is like, so totally wrong.
13Looks like you had a great time, and ate VERY well!
14Mmm the grilled oysters (and everything else) looks amazing! I had gumbo, po'boys, and friend chicken. I also had muffalettas but it was a bit bready for me.
