Fun Fact Friday

FunFactFriday

Phew! We made it, Noshers!  What are your plans this weekend?  I might check out the Parked! Food Truck Festival. Any other NYC peeps going?

Mama Nosh taught me this fun fact, and I’ve used it numerous times. It really works!

To prevent plastic food storage containers from getting that stale smell, put a paper towel in the container before storing.  The paper will absorb the smell and your container will be smell-free!

This trick also works if the container already has an odor. Just pop a paper towel in there, seal it up and wait a bit. Within a few hours, the smell will be gone!

Have a wonderful weekend!

That is such an awesome tip!!! I never knew something as simple as a paper towel could do that. Thanks Mama Nosh!

The festival sounds awesome! I’m coordinating a wedding tomorrow, but this weekend is also part of Summer Restaurant Week here in the DC area, so we’re hoping to go someplace fun on Sunday.

Wow, that’s a great tip, especially since we store so much fragrant Indian food in our containers! Have fun at Parked! It sounds like an SF Food Truck event called “Off the Grid.” We went a few months ago and gorged ourselves on all of the yummy dishes they had there (the creme brulee and horchata kettle corn trucks were my faves!)

So I always get annoyed at my husband for putting stinky food in plastic containers…as such, this is a GREAT tip! I’ll be sure to pass this along to him. Thanks!

Cool trick! I’ll try it. Does anyone have any tips for getting food stains off Tupperware? I find after a couple goes of leftover pasta, it gets too icky to use anymore – red sauces really stain!

I’ve heard that a paste of baking soda and lemon juice or vinegar (both acidic) works, but I’ve never tried it before, myself!
