Fun Fact Friday

FunFactFriday

Happy Friday!! Phew, we made it to the weekend! Any plans? How many of you are attending the NoshGirl Party? Hope to see you there! 😉

This week’s Fun Fact is in honor of my recent trip to Mystic, CT.  Stay tuned for some seafood-heavy posts in the very near future!

Up until the mid-19th century, lobster was considered “poor man’s food.”

Oh man, I LOVE lobster!  Any other lobster fans out there? How do you like to eat yours?

Lobster is one of my favorite seafood meals, right after crab!

Two weekends I had crab stuffed lobster on top of a petite filet. It was almost like the turducken version of surf and turf, and it was amazing!

Lobster is our Christmas Eve meal. It’s so New Englandy and always makes me think of home. Or as we locals say, mmmmm…lobstah!

I just learned about this lobster fact last week from a coworker who grew up in Rhode Island… Craziness! Can’t wait for the Nosh Girl party 🙂

My sister told me this lobster fact last year after she made a trip to Maine. But the best part about her trip? She brought down live lobsters (in coolers) from Maine all the way down to NY! They were seriously THE best lobsters I’ve ever had…but according to her and her BF, they taste even better when they haven’t been through a 5-hour car ride first!

But to answer your question, I like my lobster DRIPPING in butter sauce. Not the healthiest, I know, but how can you go wrong with butter? (Julia Child had it right!) Mmmm…

YUM! I would love to try some fresh Maine lobsters! One of my coworkers is actually from Maine, and her mom overnights lobsters to her on occasion. Lucky girl 🙂

I’d wanted to go to the Maine Lobster Festival this year, but couldn’t find anyone interested in going. Hopefully next year! And I love my lobster dripping in butter too! SO good!

Lobster rolls. A little bit of luxury on a buttered bun. 🙂

Really? Lobster is the poor man’s food? Can I live during that time, please?
Quick story: My Dad came home from a work trip one evening and came upstairs telling my brother and me we needed to clean our bathroom before dinner. I went into the bathroom, threw open the shower curtain and there was a live lobster, crawling around the tub. Screaming commenced. We had steamed lobsters (including the bathtub lobster) with drawn butter for dinner that night. Mmmmm. 🙂
