If you follow me on twitter (you totally should; I’m a wealth of random tweets ;)), you’ll know that I have some exciting news to share with all of you! Yesterday I got confirmation that I’ll be covering the 2011 New York City Wine & Food Festival! Hosted by the Food Network, the festival brings together top culinary icons and awesome television chefs. This year’s personalities include Giada De Laurentiis, Martha Stewart, Emeril, Alain Ducasse, Bobby Flay and many more. And best of all, 100% of proceeds benefit the Food Bank for NYC. I hadn’t had a chance to attend the NYC Food & Wine Festival in previous years, so I’m really excited about this one!
There are still tickets available to a few events of this 4-day food fest – here are a few that caught my eye:
“Ever wonder what sandwich spots the biggest food stars, chefs and celebrities MUST hit while they are in New York? Based on the hit primetimeseries of the same name, Food Network & Cooking Channel present The Best Thing I Ever Ate… Between Bread. Join chef and Food Network star Duff Goldman as he hosts this sandwich showdown in which over 15 of New York’s must-try, mouth-watering creations between bread are on the menu with signature libations to wash it all down. Enjoy live music and a slice of the leisurely atmosphere, but don’t forget to try every last bite at this can’t miss Festival event!”
“Join Pierre Moreira, of D’Artagnan, and Pierre Landet, executive chef at Cercle Rouge, for an introduction to charcuterie, the art of preserving meat. Both native Frenchman grew up in the Southwest of France where charcuterie is another stitch in the fabric of the good life. Learn about traditional methods of preserving, from smoking and dry-curing to cooking, and sample a variety of charcuterie for yourself. Let the professionals enlighten and feed you while you sip on great, paired wine in the gorgeous wine cellar of Macelleria! “
“From the simple to the gourmet, who doesn’t love a grilled cheese? Gilt City presents cheese expert, Laura Werlin, as she walks kids through making the best grilled cheese with easy and delicious ingredients. Forget making dinner for the kids. After this class, they’ll be making it for you!”
“Back for a second year, Andrew Zimmern will host Carts in the Parc, a celebration of the food trucks and carts that define all that is of-the-moment in a great culinary city like New York. The Eventi Hotel’s outdoor FoodParc will house more than a dozen food trucks while restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow’s concept food court serves up its best selling mainstays inside and out. On the main stage, a live band keeps guests in the rhythm as they sample bites from truck to truck. Those who want to relax can lounge in the serene Eventi Park and watch Zimmern film his online show Appetite For Life while honoring these mavens of the motorway. “
“Celebrate the sea! The Lobster Place brings out its best and brightest oyster purveyors in the Biergarten at The Standard, New York, for an oyster, beer and bubbly bash! Join Food Network star and host, Ted Allen to hob nob with artisanal oyster farmers who will be on hand shucking and serving up their delicious delicacies while chatting with guests about their craft. Enjoy dishes from some of New York’s most renowned seafood chefs as they offer their take on their favorite oyster preparations. What could compliment the outdoors and oysters more than snacking on The Standard Grill’s famous french fries and sipping brew and bubbly from the Southern Wine & Spirits of New York portfolio!”
….and sooooo much more! Seriously, check out the schedule – so many events! I’m waiting on confirmation on exactly which events I will be covering (there are so many, I won’t be able to attend them all!), so stay tuned! Hope to see you there!
Which events sound most yummilicious to you?
