Pie Party Live Recap!
Happy Monday! (well, you know what I mean). How was your weekend? This weekend was just PACKED for me. In addition to returning from Sao Paulo/Buenos Aires, my luggage was lost then found, I baked 2 pies, attended Pie Party Live, 2 events at the New York Food Film Festival, went with my nephew to the Bronx Zoo, and caught up with some old friends. I’ve been trying to fend off a cold that I feel creeping on for a week now, so I’ve been trying to catch up on sleep a little here and there, but so far I’ve been failing in that endeavor! I guess I shouldn’t complain too much though, right?
Today I’m going to talk about one of the yummier events I attended this weekend, Pie Party Live! Hosted by the Diva That Ate New York and Hungry Rabbit, this event featured more than 70 pies of all types. Yes, 70! Are you intrigued yet?
The event was hosted at Rodeo Bar, which not only provided a super cute space:
but also some yummy eats if one wanted to take a break from the pies (break from pies? Does not compute). I was particularly taken by this mac ‘n’ cheese:
As well as guac, salad and steak – mmmmm….
Ah, but you wanted to hear more about the pies? Say no more:
There were SO many pies, I wish I could have tried them all! There were classic fruit pies such as apple, blackberry, and peach, as well as savory pies such as chicken pot pie, mincemeat, and empanadas. There were chocolate pies, mini pies, banoffee pie, Boston cream pie, the spread of pies just went on and on and on….
My contribution was a salted caramel pie from Food & Wine. It turned out great, and I was so excited when several fellow foodies came up to me to tell me how much they liked it!
Pie Party Live was an awesome event, not just because of the truly scrumptious spread of pies made by so many foodies but also because I was able to meet so many foodies that I had previously only “known” online. Additionally, there were some awesome giveaways – and I was one of the lucky recipients! Yes, Driscoll’s sponsored a month’s supply of their berries and I WON! I’m super excited – I love berries (they are good and good for you) and will be making a ton of pies and other baked goods with them! Thank you Driscoll’s! And thank you the Diva That Ate New York, Hungry Rabbit and Rodeo Bar for hosting!
Stay tuned this week as I recap the NYC Food Film Festival as well as share the recipe for Salted Caramel Pie!
What’s your favorite variety of pie?

3I usually don’t like pies, but I look forward to fall because I LOVE pumpkin pies! (Seriously, why don’t they sell them year-round?) I remember how I ate so much pumpkin pie last year, when I was still breastfeeding Claire, that HER poop turned orange! And, after reading this post, I shall ask the hubs to pick some up on his way home from work today.
4Before today I had never seen or heard of a salted caramel pie. It looks great. I can’t wait for you to post the recipe so that I can try it.
