Happy Monday, Noshers! How did you all spend the weekend? It sure was a scorcher in NYC – phew! Definitely called for a short trip to Long Beach and some lounging!
If you follow me on twitter, you’ll know that I attended a Brother Jimmy’s #QueSummer event last week. Consisting of a 5-course, BBQ-focused meal, it was saucy, juicy, tender meaty goodness. Oh, and colorful beverages galore – just take a look at the menu:
For our first course, we started with Summer Gazpacho, Salad, and an adult Arnold Palmer:
My eating buddy’s favorite dish of that night was the Gazpacho, while I was downing that Arnold Palmer before realizing there was sweet-tea vodka in it. Dannngerous, dangerous!!
Our second course contained MY favorite part of the evening – Applewood Smoked Bacon Deviled Eggs and a Mini Brisket Slider (first photo). I absolutely LOVED the deviled eggs – so smoky and the flavor and aroma of bacon was irresistible! The intense flavor not only originated from the bacon garnish but within the yolk mix. Yum!
For our third course, we were presented the Pulled Pork with Slaw and Bourbon Marinated Pork Loin with Grilled Peaches:
The pork was tender and juicy, the slaw sweet and the grilled peaches caramelized like candy. By this time I was getting quite full – an occupational hazard, I guess you could say?
But wait – there was more! Our fourth course consisted of Garlic, Jalapeno and Lime-Brined Chicken with Rainbow Slaw and Maple BBQ Wings with Sweet Potato Wedge:
The wings were a big hit amongst my table, but really – how can one say no to wings (especially when maple is involved). I’m often wary of white-meat chicken (it’s usually too dry for my liking), but the lime-brined chicken was extremely juicy and flavorful. Brother Jimmy’s definitely gave “safe choice” chicken a flavor-kick!
By this time my stomach was pretty much at capacity, but I never turn down dessert, and that wouldn’t change this go around – especially when it was a dessert duo! A mini pecan pie AND a chocolate brownie sundae? Well, if you insist….
I’m not a big drinker, so these colorful beverages were quickly piling up on the table…
In addition to an extremely satisfied appetite, we also walked away with Brother Jimmy’s cookbooks – and I got mine personally signed by Executive Chef Eva Pesantez. I seriously believe the cookbook gods have heard my resolution of “No purchasing cookbooks in 2012” because I’ve been gifted with them throughout the year! I just LOVE cookbooks!
And guess what, Noshers?? I got an extra one for you! Do you want to make your own Bacon Deviled Eggs and Maple Wings? How about Deep Fried Mac & Cheese (yes I went there), Hush Puppies with Maple Butter, and Pineapple Rum-Glazed Pork Tenderloin? If any of those sound AMAZING to you, make sure to enter this giveaway! 🙂
