Creamy Mac & Cheese with Pork Belly, anyone?
Late last week, I had the opportunity to attend the Say Cheese Dinner launch event – while Say Cheese isn’t new, their serving dinner is! I’m a big fan of casual comfort food, so I was really excited to try out their new dinner menu. If you follow me on Instagram, some of these photos should look familiar (I came straight from work and couldn’t lug my DSLR that day, unfortunately!).
We were first presented with boozy (sake) creamsicle drinks in lovely little milk bottles – love the paper straw:
As a little amuse bouche, if you will, we first started with mini corn dogs – mmmm….
We next moved onto the “Not Your Average Joe” Sloppy Joes, with super-spicy thick-cut pickles – loved these!!
Say Cheese prides itself on its grilled cheese sandwiches, and I sampled the Gruyere, Swiss, and French Onion on Sourdough:
In addition to the meltingly scrumptious grilled cheese sandwich, I also got to sample the Super Creamy Mac and Cheese with Pork Belly (first photo). The sweet tang of the Pork Belly combined with the creamy cheese sauce was perfection. This meal was made complete with the accompanying fried string beans with Ranch dressing (meat, carbs, dairy and veggies….right? Work with me here). Yum! By this time I was quite full, yet I cleared this plate with no problem. Errr…should I be bragging about that?
As if we didn’t have enough food, out came dessert – deconstructed S’mores!
Yes, those are toasted marshmallows skewered on a pipette full of luscious chocolate. Yum! I think more things should be presented in this form. Cheese sauce? Yes. Peanut butter? Yesssss. The possibilities are endless!
And since one dessert is never enough, we ended the night with some super-cute homemade Twinkie whoopie pies:
