Re-Cap: NYC Wine & Food Festival: Time Warner Cable’s Chicken Coupe with Whoopi Goldberg & John Legend!

Phew! But can I make the title of this post any longer, that’s the real question.

Whoopi_Goldberg_John_Legend-4PB&J drumsticks?? Yes, please.

Happy Hump Day, Noshers! Today I’m super excited to share my re-cap of the New York City Wine & Food Festival event I attended last Friday – the Chicken Coupe presented by Time Warner Cable!  This delicious event was hosted by Whoopi Goldberg and featured a private (and I later learned from attendees – surprise) performance by JOHN LEGEND!  The event featured drumsticks upon wings of friiied chicken, plus tons of dessert dishes, non-chicken sides and a free-flow of beverages.  In addition to PB&J wings and talking chicken with Whoopi, I admit one of the high points of the evening was being right near the stage during John’s performance and actually having to lean back to take a photo. Is this real life??

Ahhh, I can’t help it – the dessert was right by the entrance. So OF COURSE I had to have dessert, right?  Check out this pumpkin and gingersnap parfait with toasted marshmallow and pecans. I had about three of these.

Whoopi_Goldberg_John_Legend-5What, have chicken at a chicken event? Oh okay – kimchi chicken in this case, with fruit to cut the spiciness.

And then more dessert – more dessert!! These apple concord pies and malted walnut pies from The Dutch hit the spot.

Whoopi was clearly appalled by my alternation of sweet and savory :

Whoopi_Goldberg_John_Legend-3No chicken event would be complete without chicken and waffles, baby!  This version by Sweet Chick featured General Tso’s fried chicken – yum.

Do you remember Pop Rocks? Well, these lemon ivory cake pops from The Red Cat was covered with them, so fun!  Yeah, I had about three of these as well.  The lemon cake was super tangy, which I loved, and complemented the super sweet, effervescent Pop Rocks.

Start with dessert, end with fried chicken dogs from Hill Country Chicken!  I absolutely love Hill Country Chicken, and their fried chicken dogs didn’t disappoint.

Oh, but the fun wasn’t over yet!  Much to the delight of the chicken-fancying crowd, John Legend tickled the keys and crooned some tunes – he even took the time to flash a quick smile for the camera. Thanks, John!

Whoopi_Goldberg_John_Legend-13I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off my New York City Wine & Food Festival weekend than with The Chicken Coupe, hosted by Time Warner Cable!  The food was fantastic (check out my Instagram for even more photos), Whoopi was hilarious, and John Legend’s performance was awesome.  The space (The Lighthouse at Pier Sixty) was also gorgeous.

Whoopi_Goldberg_John_Legend-11Thanks, Time Warner Cable, for asking me to cover this event! I had fun!

Stay tuned for more re-caps of my NYC Wine & Food Festival weekend!

Wow, that’s so cool! Is John Legend as attractive in person as he appears to be in that photo? Also, I want everything you ate at this event. It all looks soooo good.
