Happy FRIDAY, Noshers! Long time no post! But what better way to kick off my return than with a post dedicated to one of my favorite food services – FreshDirect, plus a GIVEAWAY! As part of FreshDirect‘s Month of Love (#FDLove, oooOOOoooh), I’m collaborating with this delicious company to share my favorite FreshDirect “food crushes.” Man oh man, I have a TON of food crushes, but for the sake of brevity I’m highlighting my top five FreshDirect food crushes. You ready? Let’s dig in.
1. Montauk Pearls Farm-Raised Oysters
Photo Source for all photos in this post: FreshDirect
I appreciate a good oyster happy hour as much as the next person, but there is an undeniably gratifying, Rosie the Riveter type satisfaction from shucking your own oysters at home. I’ve ordered these Montauk Pearls several times, and they are tender, briny, and luxurious. I get a dozen at a time and don’t share! Ha! One does not always have to share, especially when it comes to oysters. Which reminds me, it might be time to upgrade from my butter knife/flathead screwdriver combo to an actual oyster knife. Hmmm…..
2. Hass Avocados, Ready-to-Eat 2-Pack
I fully admit it – I’m of the instant gratification generation. While I know good things come to those who wait, when I decide I want an avocado I want it now. However, as I know many fellow avocado aficionados will understand, avocados oftentimes require a few days ripening once purchased. Noooooo – this is just torture for me! So I was super-excited when I found these ready-to-eat avocados from FreshDirect. They arrive perfectly ripe, and will stay that way for a while if stored in your fridge. Perfect! I’ll usually mash one up with salt, pepper, lime juice and onion for a pre-dinner snack. Deeelish.
3. PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter with Premium Chocolate
This stuff is friggin’ delicious. If you’re a peanut butter and chocolate fan like I am, you’ll be obsessed. PB2 is basically made by slow-roasting and then pressing peanuts, removing 85% of the fat and oil. I know there are “good fats” in peanut butter, so don’t get me wrong – I still eat the non-powdered stuff. But PB2, especially when blended with chocolate as this variety is – is SO GOOD! I add it to my cereal milk, on fruit, on vanilla ice cream – feel free to use your imagination. If you’ve never tried this before but are a peanut butter fan, trust me – it will change your life.
As you may know, I recently got into “zoodles” (and in fact gave away two Paderno spiralizers in my last giveaway!), so zucchini are a staple in my fridge. I usually “zoodle” all the zucchinis at once, sprinkle with salt, and let the water drain out in a stacked colander in my fridge. I can then grab a handful of zoodles to sautee whenever I want. See previous posts here and here! Healthy, delicious, and oh so versatile.
So even though I like sour foods and limes are my favorite citrus fruit, when it comes to oranges I prefer super sweet. Tartness be gone! I inherited this preference from my mom. So when I discovered Cara Cara oranges, I was thrilled – these oranges are all sweet with no tartness. If you like a bit of kick in your oranges, these are not for you. But if you’re like me, where the sweeter the oranges the better – I promise these will be your go-tos.
So there you have it – my top five FreshDirect food crushes! But don’t take my word for it – I am giving away a $50 FreshDirect giftcard so you can try these (or other) foods and determine YOUR FreshDirect food crushes! For your chance to win the $50 FreshDirect giftcard, enter via the Rafflecopter widget below. This 52 second video provides a tutorial on how to enter a giveaway for Rafflecopter newbies!
