Checking out my Blogger of the Week status at Butter Lane

October 10, 2011 By: Serena Category: Cupcakes, NoshGirl

Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend? NYC had really awesome weather on Saturday – I had to bring my summer clothes back out. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in! (Brownie points for anyone who names that quote!).  I had mentioned last week that Butter Lane Cupcakes had named me their Blogger of the Week, so of course I had to check it out.   There I am, holding my official sign :)

The setup was pretty cool: (more…)

I’m Butter Lane’s Blogger of the Week!

October 06, 2011 By: Serena Category: Cupcakes, NoshGirl

Late last night, my phone made its “Beep beep” notification that only meant one thing – a twitter mention.  Imagine my surprise when I clicked on my twitter icon to see this:

How fun! As blogger of the week, Big Apple Nosh will be featured in Butter Lane’s East Village shop for a week, and I get 50% off all cupcakes! :)

I was completely taken by surprise since I didn’t ask/apply to be Blogger of the Week, but it is so nice to know that this lil’ blog is getting noticed around NYC!  I’m going to do my happy dance…..NOW.

Thank you, Butter Lane, for selecting me as your Blogger of the Week! Can’t wait to stop by this weekend and pick up some scrumptious 50% off cupcakes.

See my previous write-up of Butter Lane Cupcakes here.

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope you had a great weekend.  I’ve got some exciting stuff on the blog this week (including a giveaway!) so stay tuned!  But first, I was digging though my photo folders just now, and I realized I never wrote about these luscious cupcakes – a TRAVESTY!!! As you may know by now, I LOVE cupcakes.  I can’t resist popping into a cupcake store when I pass by one, as recently was the case.  My little detour into Butter Lane proved to be well worth it.  Located smack dab in the East Village, Butter Lane screams super-cute the minute you walk in:

Casual: FoodParc – CLOSED

I’ll admit it – eating out in a group is sometimes a big pain.  You’ve got diversity of palates and appetites, different price points, and the dreaded awkward multi-person bill split at the very end (please don’t tell me that I’m the only one who has handed a waiter 7 people’s credit cards before).  We do it because it’s great to catch up with friends, or you’re eating with coworkers, or well, it’s just more fun to eat with others.

Well, the recently opened FoodParc, a casual dining option in Chelsea, addresses those issues.  With four different food areas (burgers, Chinese, Italian and cafe) and a unique and simple ordering system, FoodParc offers superb quality at affordable prices. I recently created my own four-course meal at FoodParc, including that mouth-watering burger above. What else did I devour? Keep reading…

The third stop on my mission to try all the cupcakes in NYC was Kumquat Cupcakery, which has a table at the Brooklyn Flea.  Featuring bite-sized cupcakes in both traditional and novel flavors, Kumquat offers a rotating flavor selection.  I tried the maple bacon cupcake a few months ago, and it was deeee-lish!  Hmm, what would I try this time?

The next stop on my quest (to try ALL the cupcakes in NYC) was The Cupcake Stop.  Combining my love of food trucks and cupcakes, The Cupcake Stop offers a variety of flavors, including black-and-white, fluffernutter, rocky road, and tiramisu.  A purist, I went with my favorite – the red velvet.

Sweet. Rich. Soft and sumptuous. It’s a weakness I have no desire to overcome, gratification that I don’t have the willpower to delay. And I’m not alone. The S.A.T.C. gals licked them. The Olsen Twins hawked them. A certain flower-named shop built a business on them, and has spawned more illegitimate children than Wilt Chamberlain. You know what I’m talking about.
