October Howloween Barkbox!



Happy HOWLOWEEN, Noshers!! Today I’m happy to share our October BarkBox, which is, of course, Halloween themed!  I had previous written about our September Barkbox, a gift from Toby’s friend Buddy.  Buddy shared the love once again this month, but I told Toby that the subsequent boxes would have to go back to Buddy – we don’t want to make frenemies!  As mentioned with our first Barkbox, this super-cute monthly subscription box service surprises your furry friend with toys, treats and other goodies. Head’s-Up: Cabot Cheese Dinner Giveaway

So, every so often I come across a food or dining-related giveaway and after submitting my own entry think, “I bet my fellow Noshers would totally love this prize!”  For some reason, that hasn’t translated into blog posts – but there’s always a first for everything, right?  I just entered a giveaway that Cabot Cheese is hosting with a grand prize (3 of them, actually!) of a dinner party for 10 friends at your home, fully catered and staffed.  Cabot Creamery’s Chef, Jimmy Kennedy, will create a menu inspired by one of three menu themes – BBQ, Comfort Food or Foodie Fare (I think I’d choose Foodie Fare – you?).  Never mind the teeny tiny fact that my teeny tiny NYC apartment can hardly fit 5 people, let alone 10 – if I win I’m sure a friend would volunteer their place in exchange for a catered dinner party, right? 🙂  The contest is open to those living in the NYC area – soooo *I’m* thinking if you’re not local, you should totally ask a NYC area friend to enter and then invite yourself to that dinner party. Right? Right??

You can enter the giveaway via Cabot Cheese’s Facebook page, where there are a ton of recipes featuring Cabot Cheese (Bacon Jalapeno Mac ‘n Cheese, anyone?), until New Year’s Eve.

On a related note, did you know that Cabot Creamery is a dairy cooperative made up of 1,200 farm families?  I had no idea, and I think that’s pretty cool.

If you win the Cabot Cheese catered dinner party for 10, will one seat be available for, say…a NoshGirl? (I kid, I kid) 😉

It is the day before my favorite holiday of the year – Thanksgiving!  My family takes this holiday seriously, not only as a legitimate excuse to bust a gut with a third slice of pie but also to reflect on things for which to be thankful. One of the things I’m thankful for this year is all of you reading the Big Apple Nosh blog and offering your comments, conversations via twitter and likes on the BAN Facebook page! You guys are awesome – so THANK YOU! 🙂

I thought about putting together a Thanksgiving recipe round-up like I did last year, but I am relying on old-standbys – namely, the oh-so-popular and oh-so-easy salted caramel pie! Have you tried making this yet? What are you waiting for?

2010 Wrap-Up

Hope everyone had a great holiday season!  I know I over-indulged a bit on my part, but what would the holidays be without a little gluttony?  As the year winds down, I’d like to thank all of you for following Big Apple Nosh!  When I started this site just 7 months ago, I never guessed I’d “meet” readers from all over the US and across the globe.  I’ve got some new and exciting things planned for 2011, so stay tuned!

In the mean time, I’ll be savoring the truffle salt and truffle oil from Marx Foods (prize shipment #2 for winning the Mushroom Challenge!) and finalizing New Year’s plans.  Keep an eye out for some recipes!
