Happy Wednesday, Noshers! Today I’m here to share a non-food experience (gasp!). Well, let me take that back – there was food involved, but I wouldn’t say food was the main event. This past weekend, I participated in the FroYo Run! And yes, it was as fun as it sounds! Continue Reading
Yessssss – there’s no better way to kick off a Friday than a big ol’ board of deli meats and cheese, am I right?? In my book, that’s a pretty big win. Today, I’m happy to share with you my dining experience at Affäre, a modern German restaurant I visited last week. I must admit, my exposure to German cuisine is relatively limited – I visited Munich about ten years ago and had all the “beginner” types of food – pretzels (mmmm), bratwurst, and spätzle, and I confirmed that I don’t like sauerkraut. I also thought I was a fan of German desserts (and I might be) because I loooove German chocolate cake – but it turns out it’s not German in nature. Oops. ANYWAY, when I heard of a modern German restaurant right here in KC, I knew I had to give Affäre a try. Affäre focuses on local, farm-to-table fare with a menu that changes seasonally depending on what’s fresh. We had quite a few delicious options to choose from: Continue Reading
Happy FriYAY, Noshers! I don’t know about you, but this has felt like the longest week ever. I flew to NYC for about 36 hours last weekend (our original flight was canceled so the trip was even shorter than expected!) for some fun plans/Mother’s Day festivities, and I’m definitely paying for it in exhaustion this week! But have no fear, Friday’s here – which means it’s almost the weeeekend! I thought I’d kick off this much-needed two days off with my delicious dining experience at Columbus Park Ramen Shop. Cue mouth watering now… Continue Reading

Happy hump day, Noshers! This week has been ridiculously busy, but thankfully there are some fun activities to get me through it :). One such event was a fabulous happy hour event hosted by The Blog Guild – of which I recently became a member! The Blog Guild has been a great way for me to meet fellow KC-area bloggers and introduce me to some new blogs – yay! Yesterday’s event at Golden and Pine featured yummy eats from Heirloom Bakery & Hearth (at which I discovered the BEST sandwich cookie in KC – details here!), such as these beautiful focaccia with red pepper hummus, sheep’s milk cheese, sage greens, and flowers: Continue Reading
Well stick a fork in me and call me basic, because this girl friggin’ LOVES cupcakes. I know, I know – the cupcake craze started years ago, and some might say has since been out-shined by the doughnut craze, the cold brew craze, the [insert artisan handcrafted food here] craze – and don’t get me wrong, I will gladly eat/drink all of these things. But to me, there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of a travel-sized, portioned-for-one, perfect-frosting-to-cake-ratio cupcake. In NYC, I relied heavily on Magnolia (two blocks from my building in NYC – dangerous!!), Sprinkles, and Sugar Sweet Sunshine. Here in KC, I’ve discovered Cupcake A La Mode.
I admit I’m a bit of a purist when it comes to cupcakes – my absolute favorite is vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. Some may call that boring; I just say – a combination so simply perfect needs no embellishment. So, I was pleasantly surprised with the PB&J cupcake (bottom left) that was calling my name. Um, peanut butter frosting? Yes please. Equally delicious (though second to the PB&J) was the vanilla cake with chocolate frosting. Sign me up. Yum.
Cupcake A La Mode has a multitude of cupcake flavors, and I’ve only tried a few. Obviously, I have my work cut out for me. For the sake of blog integrity, yes, I will go back and try the other flavors and report back. You’re welcome!
