Big Apple Nosh got a makeover!

Lifestyle

Oh happy day, Noshers!

If you’re a regular visitor to the Big Apple Nosh blog, you *may* notice a blog redesign.  Yup, that’s right! After 5 years of my previous design (and 6 years of blogging total!), I decided to treat this lil ol’ blog to a face lift! I’m loving the fresh clean look, and I hope you’re a fan too! Have a peek around and let me know what you think!

Content wise, there will also a few changes here and there – I’ve been dabbling a little beyond my usual posts to include not only food, but my thoughts on beauty, fitness/health, and life in general.  Trust me, I’m very much a beauty products and fitness novice (I’m the klutziest person I know!), so I’m writing about these things from an “everygirl” perspective – be prepared for some laughs (at my expense) and hi-jinks along the way :).  And of course, I’ll still be taking a ton of pictures and writing about my first love, FOOD.

If you prefer to read only about some of these topics, just click on the menu bar up top to filter my posts.  And if you’re reading this right now in email form because you’re an email subscriber, what are you waiting for?  Pop on over to the blog so you can check out the new layout!

See you….here!

Some of the states encountered on the loooong drive

Hello, Noshers!  Long time no write!  I wanted to share a little “life update” – Big Apple Nosh is checking in live from….Kansas City!  Yup, I’ve recently made a little one-way road trip from the East Coast metropolis where I started this lil’ ole’ blog to the sprawling Midwest.  (Those of you who follow me on Instagram might have noticed a few more location tags that are very much not NYC).  While I’m still getting my bearings on all the fun, food, and restaurants (hellloooooo BBQ!) in my new locale, I’ve finally settled in enough where I’ll start blogging a little more regularly from now on.  So hang onto your hats, Noshers – let’s see where this new adventure takes us!

But first, for those in the know – what are some “must try” places in KC I should check out??

Happy Holidays!

A Very Big Apple Nosh Thanksgiving

BigAppleNosh_Thanksgiving-5

Happy post-Thanksgiving Hump Day, Noshers!  Well, “happy” is taken with a grain of salt following a shortened work-week, isn’t it? Today I wanted to share some Instagram images of the Nosh family Thanksgiving.  Every year, my extended family gathers at my aunt’s place for a gut-busting meal of traditional Turkey-day dishes as well as our “fusion” Asian additions.  This year was no exception.  As is tradition, you can see in the first photo that my Uncle H is in charge of carving the turkey and the whole roast baby suckling pig (yes, we get a turkey AND a whole pig), much to the delight of the kidsters.

All the food is set up on my Aunt F’s kitchen island – I couldn’t fit it all in one photo, but you get the idea.  Clockwise from the left corner, that is Chinese mushrooms, noodles, turkey, mixed roasted vegetables, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, the very edge of the container containing homemade Swedish meatballs, asparagus, cranberry sauce, roasted baby pig, hoisin sauce, and shrimp: Continue Reading

Hodgepodge Post: Random Things I Eat for Lunch

Eating Out

Happy Monday, Noshers!  I know I’ve been a bit MIA lately – things have been a little hectic in the NoshGirl world!  But I am SUPER excited to be attending New York Taste 2013 this evening – I’m totally going to stop by Dominque Ansel’s table tonight and ask for my cronut (ha! a girl can dream).  I’ll be live-tweeting and posting photos from the event, so if you’re not following me on twitter or instagram yet, what are you waiting for?

Today’s post is a bit random – recently a Nosher asked me via twitter what I eat for lunch every day.  I wish I could tell you I have fantabulous five-course lunches every day, but a rushed (hopefully delicious) meal, eaten at my desk anywhere between 12pm and 4:30pm is more the reality.  I’m not the only one, right? But Noshers ask, and NoshGirl delivers – below is a photo-summary of a work-week of lunches:

Monday

BigAppleNosh_Lunch-2Pret-a-Manger sent me a few gift cards to check out their fall soups – so of course I had to try their Mac & Cheese with Sausage.  Okay…that’s not really a soup….at all.  But it was found in the soup section, so that counts right? Aaaaanyway, I’m sticking with it – with cheddar, Monterey jack, Gouda, and Italian sausage, this mac & cheese was hearty and filling.  Supplemented with a yogurt and granola pot because I loooove yogurt and granola.  Crisp clear photo courtesy of the HTC One I’m trying out for a few weeks, on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network!
