Timna

Eating Out, Food

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

While I love (and I mean LOVE) my French toast, waffles, and pancakes (as you could probably tell from my previous post), every so often I have a hankering for more diverse brunch options.ย  On such an occasion, I decided to give Timna in the East Village a try.ย  A chic and sleek Mediterranean restaurant, Timna offers a generous brunch menu that will satisfy even the hungriest brunchgoer. Maison Pickle

Eating Out, Food

Once in a while, I’m in the mood for a lighter brunch option. This is not one of those times :).ย  Today, I’m here to share my enthusiasm for strictly traditional brunch fare – none other than the chicken & French Toast stack at Maison Pickle ๐Ÿ™‚

As you can see from the above, the chicken & French Toast stack is not for the faint of heart.ย  I prepped both mentally and appetite-wise for this very dining experience.ย  My preparations paid off, as I was treated to a generous (to say the least! ha!) portion of fluffy yet denseย Challah French Toast topped with flavorful buttermilk fried chicken, nitrate-free bacon, maple butter, and syrup.

Meanwhile the diner next to me ordered a half grapefruit. She’s missing out!

If you’re looking for a light meal of fruit and Greek yogurt (and don’t get me wrong, there’s definitely a time for that – or so I’m told), Maison Pickle is not your place. However, if you’re ready to tackle the Everest that is their Fried Chicken – n- Toast, you can’t find go wrong. Let me know what you think!

Seamore’s

Eating Out, Food

I’ve been obsessed with Seamore’s lately – a casual seafood restaurant with locations throughout NYC (and they just opened a new location right near my workplace – woohoo!).ย  With a simple menu featuring favorites like guac, lobster mac and cheese (yum – this is SO GOOD), and fish tacos, there’s something for everyone.ย  During my last visit, I had such a difficult time choosing what to order, but finally decided on the summer gazpacho and the blackened shrimp tacos.ย  I was not disappointed. Big Gay Ice Cream Shop

Eating Out, Food

big-gay-ice-cream-4Almost ten years ago, I spotted an ice cream truck in Union Square that almost wasn’t quite like all the others.ย  This truck had its menu printed on the side of the truck as expected, with a friendly face behind the window – but plastered on the side of the truck was a colorful rainbow cone graphic with “BIG GAY ICE CREAM” in large print. I was intrigued. I perused the menu and had a tough time deciding between the Dorothy (named after Ms. Zbornak from The Golden Girls, of course) and the Salty Pimp. Decisions decisions! I went with the Salty Pimp – a vanilla soft serve cone injected with dulce de leche and finished with a salty dark chocolate shell. I was a convert.ย ย  Continue Reading
