Happy Wednesday, Noshers! Today I’m here to share a non-food experience (gasp!). Well, let me take that back – there was food involved, but I wouldn’t say food was the main event. This past weekend, I participated in the FroYo Run! And yes, it was as fun as it sounds!
No surprises here, the event was just as you would imagine – run a 5K and get Yogurtini frozen yogurt at the end! This particular run took place around the Liberty Memorial, which is intensely hilly, and as a “fake runner”, this was especially challenging for me. Yes – I did initially sign up because of the froyo, but I ended up having an awesome time – I had two great running partners to start the race with (we then branched off into our own paces, mine being a series of short sprints and exhausted walk breaks!), the weather was absolutely perfect, and there was fun music and a “cooling zone” to keep things interesting.
And because I’m a masochist, here is a super blurry shot of me finishing that race – no attempts to smile, I was just glad for it to be over and to move onto the froyo portion of the day 🙂
I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for future “food 5Ks”; if there’s anything to motivate me to run 3.1 miles, it’s the promise of some delicious nosh at the end. Cheese 5k anyone? How about cake 5k??
Have you run a 5K before? Did it have food at the end?
