On an unseasonably warm day a few weekends ago, an eating buddy and I partook in the $35, all-you-can-eat brunch at FOUR, the restaurant/lounge located within Yotel.  Located on the outskirts of Times Square, we weren’t sure exactly what to expect at FOUR.  However, the temptation of all-you-can-eat at a fair price was calling my name, so off we went!  Once seated, we perused the menu to strategize our eating plan:

We started with the French Toast with roasted pineapple preserve (first photo), and the Tenderloin Benedict on an English muffin with kimchi, poached egg, and chipotle chili hollandaise:

The French Toast was luxuriously rich and crispy, while the kimchi in the eggs benedict added a spicy kick to this usually-traditional dish.  We also ordered the house ground meatballs with kaffir lime-tomato sauce and herbs:

The kaffir lime was definitely a different touch to the conventional meatball, but not an unwelcome one at that. We next ordered the crunchy shrimp with lemon sake aioli, sesame, scallion, and masago:

Sweet, spicy and tangy, the shrimp indulged a smorgasbord of flavors – yum!

The Halibut Slider with crispy tomato and rémoulade sauce sounded like a novel take on the typical slider, so of course we had to try it:

The  buttery grilled bun definitely added a nice touch!

For a sushi selection, we ordered the spicy tuna roll with sesame, cucumber and wasabi tobiko:

With only four pieces, this dish allowed us to get a good taste without over-stuffing ourselves.

At this point, eating buddy and I were starting to get a little full, but we soldiered on.  Our next selection was the Crab Wontons with cream cheese, corn, mushroom, shiso, truffle and ponzu dipping sauce:

Hot and crispy, FOUR’s version of the crab wonton was on point.

One of my very favorite dishes from this brunch was the Sweet & Spicy Bacon, which was exactly as described:

The bacon is intensely flavored with thick maple syrup, and (I think) black pepper.  I’m not ashamed to admit we ordered the bacon two more times, ha! Yes, it was that good.

We finished off our all-you-can-eat brunch experience with the Fruit & Granola with yuzu yogurt and blueberry preserves:

Oh, and some more bacon. Haha.  The tangy yuzu yogurt provided a pleasant tangy counterpoint to the sweet granola and blueberry preserves.  A great way to cap off this gut-busting meal!

On this unseasonably warm autumn day, the fourth-floor rooftop provided a pleasant respite from the hustle and bustle of Times Square just a few blocks away:

While the all-you-can-eat brunch option at FOUR isn’t super-cheap, for $35 (the price includes their specialty cocktail selection!) it’s a pretty good deal.  The inventive menu and well-done preparation makes the trek to the west side worth it.  The service was friendly but quite slow on the day we went – and the rooftop wasn’t packed.   If it were just a little quicker (it is NYC after all) it would have been a perfect weekend brunch experience!

A pleasant brunch spot for warmer weather; not your average hotel dining option.
